What’s your favourite beach activity – swimming, sunbathing, people-watching or partying? Thanks to the glorious summer weather the British Isles are enjoying, it’s a question we find ourselves asking most weekends – at least for those of us fortunate enough to be living in Jersey.
Understanding beach behaviour is critical for the travel and holiday industry, and consequently the annual "Flip Flop Report", commissioned by Expedia.com, is widely followed. Beachgoers in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand participate in the study. The results reveal the pleasures and anxieties experienced, including comfort with public nudity, opinions of Speedos and fear of sharks. According to Expedia, the beach is the world’s most popular travel destination by a considerable margin and a better understanding of beachgoer likes and dislikes leads to holiday recommendations that best suit their preferences.
